THE GREAT GREEN BOOK (2023)


The smell and taste we experience allow us to travel through time and connect with cherished memories we long for or wish to revisit.This story takes the reader on a sensory journey, describing a personal experience of adapting to a new country through the evocative power of smells and nostalgic memories. A particular memory is expressed through various fabrics that incorporate natural scent essences during the dyeing process.


This project was created in collaboration and support of the Global Jewish Leadership Program - Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk, the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, and The Leo Baeck Institute New York.


Local Materials


From the bustling Carmel Market and Nahalat Binyamin in Tel Aviv to the vibrant Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, and ultimately to the local printing workshop in Halle, I meticulously collected a diverse array of spices as a source of smells and colors, along with different fabrics for the dyeing process.

Experimental stage


I conducted a collection of various spices for my project. The spices I collected were used partly for color references, such as turmeric, and some were used to create scent extracts, like rose water.

Smell extract preparation


I was eager to explore various other scent extracts with similar applications in the industry. To achieve this, I decided to collaborate with 'Taipei New Prismatic Enterprise Co. Ltd' in Taiwan, a&#38;nbsp;supplier of professional fragrance essences catering to diverse industries. The scent essences I&#38;nbsp;tested included lavender, orange, and cinnamon, among others.

Eye to eye, 2022
A woman's strength is based on her personality and worldview and is expressed through conventions of self-expression. Alongside this, our personality is woven from personal memories of significant figures in our lives. For me, this figure was my grandma Rachel. Her sudden death due to a disease she hid for 12 years, evoked in me an ambivalence: why did she choose to harbor the secret of her illness for so long? And does her harboring reflect positive or negative strength?


I believe that women's strength is demonstrated through their capability to communicate thoughts, desires, and aspirations. However, silence leads to loneliness and sadness that might be unspoken or veiled but nonetheless can be imparted through eyes as well.


This collection exemplifies the complex strength of women and presents abstract illustrations of eyes that I sketched from old family pictures. By doing so, I am interested in creating diverse expressions of emotions. Moreover, I believe this observation can offer us another aspect of sensitivity as human beings. We can get an impression of honest feelings from pair of eyes: sadness, happiness, contemplation, loneliness. The choice of a scarf as an object for a collection refers to the main points in my story: the hiding versus discovery, the outer cover versus the inner feeling, and also the way of expression, which can be worn in several ways. Also, the colors range and silk as a material to work with were chosen from an inner feeling identified with my grandmother as well as from the woman I am today.

Verner Chair, 2017

The street is a dynamic space that combines unique characteristics of materials, colors, scents,&#38;nbsp;sensations, and emotions. The Verner chair is an attempt to understand the essence of “The&#38;nbsp;street seat“ known as the “bench,” its components and significance to the public space.


The Verner Chair attempts to bring the bench from the public place- the outside to the private- the&#38;nbsp;inside and to give it a new nature, new materials, and a different perspective. To do so, but still&#38;nbsp;maintain the character of the street bench, I have changed the proportions and material of the&#38;nbsp;chair but kept the general shape that characterizes it, namely long, parallel and end-to-end strips.

Joule Urban Work Unit, 2018
Guided by market gaps, persona research, and a focus on delivering added value, I designed an urban workstation with an electrical infrastructure that enables work on the computer and functions day and night.


The concept of the home office is evolving, with more individuals choosing to extend their workspace boundaries to outdoor urban environments. Working in open urban spaces can be inspiring and fosters a connection with the rhythm of city life.


Joule is a system of work units designed for the city of Tel Aviv, bridging the desire to work outdoors with the practical considerations it entails. It comprises five key elements: a flat surface for a computer, a seating area, an electrical outlet, a space for personal items, and a shaded area for the user and at least one additional person. The unit's structure is symmetrical, supported by legs anchored to the ground, allowing for placement within a predetermined grid based on the electrical city infrastructure and interactive surroundings.


The Joule system, situated outdoors, utilizes durable and weather-resistant materials that are both user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. The table and chair legs are constructed from hollow metal poles that are welded together, with each metal leg accompanied by an Electricity Box. The seat, backrest, and table are crafted from white oak wood with a weather-resistant lacquer finish. The space between the table leg and the seat is designated for personal artifacts and is made from solid, soft rubber. The Sunshade, a hollow metal pole connected to two metal-cast frames supporting a perforated metal surface, completes the ensemble.


The installation of Joule units involves anchoring the metal components to the ground, along with an electrical system provided by the municipality. This system offers power points for charging devices and lighting for nighttime use.

Examining Color Transformations of Natural Dyes


Natural dyes offer an extensive realm of possibilities and revelations regarding color hues and their properties. One noteworthy aspect of natural dyes is their capacity to change in hue when exposed to light. This stands in contrast to synthetic dyes, which tend to produce consistent and predictable results. Some may perceive the fading quality of natural dyes as a disadvantage.


In the Yellow Mellow project, my aim was to delve into this "disadvantage" by closely examining how colors transform under light exposure. The research process involved three distinct stages and focused on two specific colors: yellow and blue. This choice was made because yellow hues are generally known to have lower lightfastness levels compared to blue hues.


Several questions guided my exploration: Would the addition of indigo enhance the lightfastness of the yellow shades? What colors would emerge after exposure to light? 
And how could these outcomes be harnessed as an 
aesthetic language?


To thoroughly test these questions, I applied the dyes to four distinct types of silk, sourced from various regions around the world, and with different silk percentages. Natural dyes are known for their reactivity with animal fibers, making silk, among others, the ideal choice in this regard.


The first stage involved a dyeing process, where I chose six distinct yellowish shades using diverse plants, each with varying degrees of lightfastness. In the second stage, I immersed these shades in an indigo vat. The third step focused on subjecting the newly created shades to sunlight in order to assess their lightfastness.


The experiment extended for six weeks, during which fabric samples were exposed to sunlight every week and a half. After each exposure, a piece of fabric was cut and reserved for subsequent comparison. 


This approach allowed me to create an archive&#38;nbsp;that demonstrates the evolution of colors over&#38;nbsp;time and holds 800 different color samples.

My inspiration for this project came from my love for growing plants. Studies have shown that there is a positive effect when we surround ourselves with green objects. Furthermore, it encourages creativity.

Sassy is made of concrete, which is an affordable and readily available material that can be cast multiple times. I aimed to use responsibly sourced raw materials that promote recycling and reuse practices. The changing color of&#38;nbsp;Sassy is a result of unique pigments for concrete, allowing for an exciting combination. The outcome encourages you to have more than one plant.

In addition to the use of concrete, I employed Jesmonite, a water-based acrylic liquid, and a mineral base. The process involved creating colored boards using special pigments, cutting them into various pieces, and finally, inserting them into the liquid mixture that goes into the mold.

 Cheoux Backpack, 2016


Looking back, it was the first project in my product design studies that introduced me to the field of textiles, a passion I later discovered.


The project stemmed from an unusual pairing of two seemingly unrelated objects chosen at random—a raincoat and a citrus juicer—to inspire an innovative design concept. The primary goal was to design a bag from any desirable field.


Living in Tel Aviv City and commuting by bicycle at the time, I explored my surroundings to create the necessary functional bag. The outcome is a bag with a circular structure that can adjust its volume through three different angles, maximizing its capacity.


The distinctive feature of the citrus press, where multiple lines converge to a central apex, served as inspiration for the unique structure of the Cheaux backpack. Additionally, the textile print revealed when the zippers are opened mimics the appearance of freshly squeezed citrus juice. The choice of nylon material was influenced by both the raincoat's main material and considerations for potential future product recycling.
