Sassy, 2019

My inspiration for this project came from my love for growing plants. Studies have shown that there is a positive effect when we surround ourselves with green objects. Furthermore, it encourages creativity.

Sassy is made of concrete, which is an affordable and readily available material that can be cast multiple times. I aimed to use responsibly sourced raw materials that promote recycling and reuse practices. The changing color of Sassy is a result of unique pigments for concrete, allowing for an exciting combination. The outcome encourages you to have more than one plant.

In addition to the use of concrete, I employed Jesmonite, a water-based acrylic liquid, and a mineral base. The process involved creating colored boards using special pigments, cutting them into various pieces, and finally, inserting them into the liquid mixture that goes into the mold.
